Duquesne Light Price to Compare & How to Switch Electric Suppliers
Duquesne Light's price for electricity goes up on December 1.
Here's what Duquesne Light's Price to Compare is today, what it changes to on December 1, 2026, and how to switch to a fixed-rate supplier without any interruption to your service.
What is Duquesne Light's Price to Compare?
Duquesne Light delivers electricity to homes in Allegheny and Beaver counties, including Pittsburgh. If you haven't picked an electric supplier, Duquesne Light also supplies the electricity itself, at its default rate. That rate is called the Price to Compare, or PTC. It's the cents-per-kilowatt-hour (kWh) figure a supplier offer has to beat for you to save on the supply part of your bill.
Duquesne Light's PTC is made up of its default supply charge plus its transmission charge. If you choose a supplier, that supplier provides both. Duquesne Light's delivery (distribution) charges and customer charge stay on your bill no matter who supplies your power.

| June 1 – Nov. 30, 2026 | 14.14¢/kWh | Current |

Rate RS (standard residential). Source: Duquesne Light's Residential Rates page. Duquesne Light labels the December 1 figure an estimate. The supply part of it (11.3718¢) was filed with the PA PUC on October 1, 2026. Residential Heating (RH) goes from 12.70¢ to 13.12¢, and Add-On Heat Pump (RA) goes from 13.48¢ to 13.89¢.
That's an increase of about 0.42¢ per kWh, or roughly 3%. A home using 700 kWh a month would pay about $3 more per month for supply on Duquesne Light's default rate.
When does Duquesne Light's Price to Compare change?
Duquesne Light says its Price to Compare is typically adjusted at least twice a year, on June 1 and December 1, and that scheduled changes can happen up to four times a year. Each change can go up or down. A fixed-rate plan from a supplier locks your supply price for the length of your contract, so Duquesne Light's price changes don't affect you while that contract lasts.

- Find your Duquesne Light Price to Compare and your usage. Duquesne Light shows its Price to Compare on page 2 of your bill, in the Current Bill Details section. You can also use the table above.
- Check your current contract, if you already have a supplier. Look for the end date and any early cancellation fee. Pennsylvania waives those fees during the last 30 days of a contract.

- Sign up with the supplier you choose. You'll need your Duquesne Light Supplier Agreement ID, a 10-digit number in the "Shopping and Supplier Information" section on page 2 of your bill.
- Watch for your disclosure statement. The supplier must send you written terms. You have a 3-business-day window to change your mind after you enroll.
After that, the supplier and Duquesne Light handle the switch. Under Pennsylvania's accelerated switching rules, a switch can take effect in about three business days once Duquesne Light is notified. Your bill will show the new supplier's rate from the effective date on.
